Telehealth Women’s Physical Therapy, Upper West Side, New York City, NY
My highest priority continues to be the health and well-being of patients and anyone in need of physical therapy. Moving forward through these uncertain times, I am offering TeleHealth Physical Therapy to help you stay healthy and strong in the comfort of your own home. “Telehealth physical therapy” (or “virtual physical therapy”) refers to physical therapy services that are provided over a technology platform, rather than by in-person means.
One of my primary goals is to educate patients and Telehealth Physical Therapy is an excellent way to accomplish this for patients who otherwise couldn’t access care, whether they’re under shelter-in-place orders or simply unable to make it to appointments under normal circumstances. Telehealth physical therapy is an innovative way of delivering physical therapy to clients for their rehabilitation or wellness needs. It complements in-person care and does not replace it. Depending on the specific role or service, Telehealth Physical Therapy can also be referred to using other terms like E-Visits, TelePT, Telemedicine Physical Therapy, Telemedicine PT, TeleRehab, remote physical therapy, virtual visits physical therapy, online physical therapy, mobile health, e-health, m-health, and more.
Regardless of whether the world is currently practicing isolation or whether we are returning to our pre-pandemic lives in New York, having a non-conventional touchpoint with patients helps me monitor your current physical state. We can most certainly use Telehealth during this time to continue to help you work on your goals, stay on track with your exercises, and you keep motived to stay healthy and well in between office visits.

Be comforted in knowing there is evidence supporting the effectiveness of telehealth physical therapy:
- A UC Irvine School of Medicine study recently revealed that telehealth PT was as effective as in-clinic therapy for improving upper extremity motor control post-CVA (Cerebrovascular accident). (source)
- Researchers concluded there is a high level of agreement between an in-clinic Physical Therapy diagnosis and a diagnosis obtained via telehealth using a remote diagnosis and a functional movement screen (FMS) (source)
What You Will Need:
- Internet – for fast, uninterrupted communication. Limit the number of equipment connected to the internet.
- You’ll need a device with a screen, camera and microphone. This could be a smartphone, tablet, or computer
- Quiet isolated room with good lighting and space. A yoga or pilates mat, pillow, and a towel would be useful.
- Loose clothing as therapeutic exercises might be performed
You will need to first download a Telehealth App on any device at home (iphone, laptop, tablet etc). You will then receive an email with a link to access your Telehealth session on a secure and HIPAA compliant video platform. Prior to your first appointment, you will be asked to fill out an intake form online to save time. During the initial visit, we will discuss your condition, do a movement and posture screen, and talk about your goals and treatment plan.
I will be asking you to do a few movements that involve stretches and different exercises in front of the device. If applicable, I may also teach you some self massage techniques to help with your pain. We will go over specific exercises to try at home and talk about which to avoid. After our session, I will send you a personalized exercise plan in video and written format outlining your home program. As for frequency and length of treatment, it will depend on different factors such as your physical therapy and wellness goals.
Reach me if I can answer any questions on physical therapy, serving you locally in New York City or anywhere online virtually through “telehealth“.
